How To Remove Scaling From Electric Kettle

2026-06-30

Limescale forms when calcium and magnesium remain on the heating plate after boiling. The United States Geological Survey classifies water above 180 mg/L as calcium carbonate as very hard, so kettles need frequent descaling.

Remove Scale Safely

Unplug the kettle and let it cool. Fill it with diluted citric acid or a kettle descaler approved by the instructions. Heat only when the manual permits it, leave the solution for the stated time, then discard it. Rinse several times and boil fresh water before reuse.

Do not use steel wool or sharp tools. Abrasives may scratch stainless steel, damage coatings, or expose the heating plate. Vinegar can remove deposits, but compatibility with seals and plastics should be checked first.

Why Manufacturing Control Matters

A manufacturer controls stainless steel thickness, heating-plate fit, seals, thermostat installation, assembly, and leakage testing more directly than a trader. Integrated mold development, stamping, injection molding, and assembly also support OEM and ODM changes.

Our process covers specification review, sample approval, pilot production, electrical testing, boiling tests, inspection, and export packing. Quality checkpoints include automatic shut-off, dry-boil protection, leakage, grounding, temperature rise, lid fit, and repeated boiling.

Bulk Project Checklist

Confirm capacity, voltage, wattage, plug, water-contact materials, descaling instructions, spare parts, packaging, and certification scope. IEC 60335-2-15:2024 covers appliances for heating liquids rated up to 250 V. European projects should also review Regulation EC No 1935/2004, CE, RoHS, WEEE, labeling, and document traceability.
